We’re excited to welcome Brian Ragan, our new group life, disability and voluntary benefits regional sales executive, to our Western sales team. Brian comes to us from Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company and will be managing our Northern California and Northern Nevada regions.

Brian is excited for his new role at Symetra and will be a valuable resource in his market.

How would your friends and/or family describe you?

Extroverted, optimistic, spontaneous, high-spirited, and “a jack of all trades…a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”

Are you a fan of any sports teams?

My grandfather played for the USC Trojans from 1945 to 1947, so I’m a die-hard Trojan fan. Fight On!

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in three minutes, and some would say my impressions of mutual friends/family are another special talent.

What’s your favorite pastime?

My favorite pastimes are tennis, basketball, fly fishing and golf, in that order.

What’s your favorite quote?

“We are more often frightened than hurt, and we suffer more in imagination than reality,” by the stoic philosopher Seneca the Younger. It’s a reminder that 90% of the hardest parts in one’s life are in their minds during the moments leading up to the event one is worried about, which thankfully one can learn to find equanimity in those moments.
