Where is your money going?
Cutting back on nonessentials is one way to put money away for your retirement.
Track your expenses for at least a month.
Keep track of everything from your mortgage and water payments to movie tickets and your morning coffee. It might get tedious, but it’s the only way you can see where your money is going.
Identify the essentials.
Check off the things you can’t live without, such as utilities, food and housing costs.
Look at what remains and figure out how you can squeeze a bit out of each item. Set that money aside for your retirement.
It’s easy to fall back into old patterns. Stick to your plan. Focus on the future and the goals you’ve set.
