Three of the teacher Heroes are honored on the field during each Seahawks home game, which includes an exclusive sideline experience and in-game spotlight. The Heroes are also celebrated in their classrooms with representatives from the Seahawks, Symetra, as well as their students and peers—bringing the community together to recognize these special educators. Symetra makes a contribution to each teacher Hero to help offset some the personal out-of-pocket expenses they incur providing classroom supplies.
“It's an honor to represent Madison teachers and my wonderful librarian colleagues throughout Seattle Schools, who are everyday heroes in the classroom,” said Nina Chambers, a librarian at Madison Middle School. “I so appreciate that Symetra and the Seahawks are recognizing teachers. We know how much our students look up to sports team members as their heroes. It's a special honor for an NFL team to return the favor.”
This season also brings a new twist to Symetra Heroes in Classroom. In addition to honoring teachers on and off the field, two of the Hero schools will be presented with an “MVP Award” to develop an outstanding student achievement program at their schools. Symetra and the Seahawks will donate approximately $40,000 in funding to help support and build out these innovative MVP Award programs.
The winners will be announced during the last Seahawks home game of the year, on Dec. 21.
