Redwood City, Calf. (June 25, 2007) The Symetra Family Fourth celebrates Redwood Citys time honored Independence Day traditions with a new twist for 2007: an expanded fireworks spectacular. The event features a full day of festivities and an extensive line-up of entertainment, childrens activities, food and music for the entire family.
The days events include the Independence Day Festival; the Peninsula Celebration Associations 69th Annual Independence Day Parade; and the grand finale of the event: the Symetra Fireworks Spectacular.
With the addition of Symetra Financial as the events first Platinum Sponsor, this years show will include even more stunning pyrotechnics. The fireworks will be launched from the Port of Redwood City and will feature a variety of colorful and dramatic aerial bursts that are over 650 feet in size. There is limited parking and viewing space at the Port; however the display will take place some 800 feet above the water and should be visible from numerous vistas in and around downtown.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Independence Day Festival takes place along the parade route in downtown Redwood City. Artists, artisans and entertainers will join community groups, sponsors and a variety of food vendors celebrating the Symetra Family Fourth. A special childrens area will also be available for families to enjoy.
The Peninsula Celebration Associations 69th Annual Independence Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. and flow through downtown Redwood City. Bands, dance groups, decorative floats, children and the newly crowned Miss California will entertain the nearly 40,000 expected parade spectators.
The day concludes with the Symetra Fireworks Spectacular, which will begin at sundown.
