Colin Elder Joins Symetra as
Vice President of Mortgage Loans

Bellevue, Wash. — (March 7, 2007) — Symetra Financial today announced that Colin M. Elder has been named vice president of mortgage loans and will lead the company’s commercial mortgage division. Symetra’s commercial lending unit manages approximately $800 million in outstanding loans as part of the company’s investment portfolio.

Before joining Symetra, Elder managed a nationwide real estate originations team as a vice president with Genworth Financial. He has 24 years of commercial real estate experience in loan origination, underwriting, closing and servicing. Elder is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound.

Elder is replacing Dick Manske who is retiring after 28 years with Symetra.
