Richard Lindsay to Lead Symetras
Individual Life Insurance & Annuities Business
Bellevue, Wash. — (Sept. 5, 2006) — Symetra
SM Financial today named Richard J. Lindsay as the company’s new senior vice president of the Life & Annuities division. As a member of the Symetra senior management team, Lindsay will drive performance and oversee operations for the division, which encompasses retirement services, annuities and individual life insurance products.
Lindsay brings to Symetra extensive industry experience and product development expertise. Most recently, he was executive vice president at AIG VALIC and president of VALIC Financial Advisors, part of the American International Group Inc. group of companies. At AIG VALIC, Lindsay led product development and strategic initiatives, and was president of the company’s affiliated broker/dealer. Lindsay has also served as a senior vice president at CoreStates Financial Corp — now part of the Wachovia Corp. — and as a management consultant with the Hay Group and vice president for Golden Valley Bank.
Lindsay holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a juris doctor from Temple University. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Brown University, is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and holds a number of financial services designations.

Lindsay takes up management of the Life & Annuities division from Jennifer Davies, who was named senior vice president of enterprise development earlier this year and remains a member of Symetra’s senior executive team. In this role, Davies will help the company develop new business initiatives and identify strategic market opportunities.
