Walton County Partnership Improves Employee Access to Medical Coverage
Walton County, Fla. (October 1, 2005) Symetra
SM The Walton County Chamber of Commerce and Symetra
SM Life Insurance Company have teamed up to make health coverage more accessible to over 10,000 employees and their family members. The partnership is offering
Select Benefits a limited benefit health and life insurance policy to the chambers business members and their employees. The policy is a solution for chamber members seeking to provide essential medical benefits to employees who would otherwise not qualify for major medical coverage.
"With health care costs at such a high level, its difficult for local businesses to offer comprehensive medical benefits to all employees," said Shannon Porath, whose law firm is a member of the Walton County Chamber of Commerce. "As a member of the chambers Benefits Committee and a small business owner, I am truly pleased that the chamber can now offer essential health insurance to employees who previously could not access such health benefits. I am optimistic that many chamber businesses will begin offering this policy to their employees."
The
Select Benefits policy is available to businesses with two or more eligible seasonal, temporary, hourly, part-time, or full-time employees. The policy provides coverage for such basic services as doctors office visits, X-rays and hospital stays. One rate covers all family members. Plus, there are no limitations on preexisting conditions, no required networks, and no requirements for proof of good health (except for late entrants). While
Select Benefits, is not a comprehensive medical policy, there are no deductibles for covered benefits and copays only apply for prescription drugs.
"More and more, companies just dont have the resources to provide major medical insurance," said Al Ward, General Manager from Florida Transformer, Inc. "Walton County businesses have been looking for an alternative quality health care plan for a long time.
Select Benefits offers cost-effective coverage and helps protect the health and well being of our employees."
