Margaret A. Meister

Chief Financial Officer
Margaret Meister is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Symetra Financial Corp. and its insurance subsidiaries. She is responsible for leading the company’s financial disciplines and serves as a liaison between the company and its board of directors and shareholders, rating agencies and analysts.
Meister joined Symetra Financial in 1988, when she started as an actuarial student. Since then she has held several actuarial positions throughout the company, including chief actuary. She was appointed to her current position in February 2006.
Meister is on the board of Kirkland Performance Center, a nonprofit that brings performing arts to western Washington’s Eastside community.
In 1996, Meister became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. She graduated from Whitman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in math.
