M. Scott Taylor
Senior Vice President, Group Division
Scott Taylor is senior vice president of Symetra Financial’s Group division and insurance subsidiaries. Taylor, who has been with the company for more than 30 years, has announced his retirement, effective June 2008.
Taylor’s career with Symetra Financial began in 1971. He worked in a variety of positions, which included underwriting, administrative and sales and marketing. In 1981, he was promoted to vice president where he assumed responsibility for the company’s group life, disability and health care operations. Since 1998, he has overseen both Group sales and operations.
Taylor is a frequent national speaker on health care insurance issues. He also served on the Health Insurance Association of America’s national Group Committee and was a Board member and chairman of the Washington State Health Insurance Pool for eight years. Taylor is a Board member of the Self Insurance Institute of America (SIIA), as well as a member of the SIIA Government Relations Committee.
He has served on the Advisory Board of Seattle-based KUOW FM public radio and the Board of Trustees of the Northwest Chamber Orchestra.
Taylor was a captain in the United States Air Force and graduated with his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.
