Roderick J. Halvorson
Senior Vice President, Financial Institutions Distribution
Rod Halvorson is senior vice president of Symetra Financial’s insurance subsidiaries, with oversight of business development in the Financial Institutions Distribution channel. His team has responsibility for the development of relationships to increase the sales of Symetra life and annuity products through financial institutions.
Before joining Symetra Financial in October 2005, Halvorson headed up the bank distribution group for MetLife Investors. Prior to joining MetLife Investors, Halvorson held several key business development roles, including managing director at Sage Life Assurance Company and president and co-founder of Independent Financial Marketing Group (IFMG), a third party marketing organization, where he worked for 15 years.
During his time with IFMG, Halvorson assisted several major insurance companies in entering the bank marketplace, successfully launched more than 200 banks into the business of selling annuities and life insurance, and obtained the Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, New York, Florida and Georgia state Bankers Association endorsements.
Halvorson holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Montana, and earned his undergraduate degree from Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash.
