New: Symetra Fixed Indexed AnnuityPrint this page
If your clients are:
  Moderately conservative.
  Interested in tax deferral.
Frequently in search of higher returns.
Attracted to the potential returns of the market.
  Concerned about stock market risk.
Interested in preserving their purchase payment.
Introduce them to the new Symetra Fixed Indexed Annuity.

With a purchase payment of at least $10,000, your clients can allocate money to a "fixed account" or an "indexed account" that’s tied to the performance of the Standard & Poor’s® 500 Composite Stock Price Index (S&P 500).

Index annuities are popular with risk-averse clients because each year they earn an interest rate that’s tied to the performance of the index — in this case the S&P 500 — but with fewer risks than if they’d invested directly in equities. When the S&P 500 has positive gains, so will your clients. When the index drops, your clients are protected.

"We shield stock-market-leery clients from market risk by guaranteeing they will never receive less than 90 percent of their purchase payment, plus an annual credit rate of at least 3 percent, less withdrawals," said Scott Bartholomaus, vice president of Symetra Life’s Retirement Services unit.

The product has many of the usual benefits of a Symetra Life fixed deferred annuity, including tax deferral, minimum value guarantee, spousal continuation, a death benefit and annuitization.

It’s best suited for clients who want a long-term product that protects their purchase payment. Symetra Fixed Indexed Annuity may be especially attractive for clients who are 55 to 85 years old, and for those who want an interest rate that’s tied to an equity index, tax-deferred growth or income they cannot outlive. It is not suitable for clients who wish to pursue aggressive growth opportunities through stocks, bonds or mutual funds, or who require short-term liquidity without incurring withdrawal charges.

While there is a seven-year surrender charge schedule, clients will be reassured to know they can take free withdrawals of up to 10 percent of their contract value each year. Plus, if they are confined to a nursing home or hospital for more than 30 days, Symetra Life will waive all surrender charges.
