Heroes in the Classroom Print this page
In early 2006, Symetra and the Seattle Seahawks announced a multi-year marketing partnership, which includes sponsorship of the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom program.

Designed to encourage positive change in public schools, the Heroes program publicly recognizes three local teachers during each regular Seahawks season home game — 24 teachers in all.

Teachers also receive a basket of NFL goodies, VIP tickets to a Seahawks game, and a grant to help offset some of their personal out-of-pocket expenses for equipping students with much-needed school supplies and reading materials.

"Every year, our teachers spend an average of $443 of their own money on classroom supplies,"1 said Stan Emert, director of corporate social responsibility for Symetra Financial. "In addition to providing these hard-working teachers with some well-deserved recognition and a $250 office supplies gift card, the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom is looking to raise more than $40,000 this season to help cover some of these expenses."
