A Little Bit of Home was created to give Northwest residents a way to send a "thank you" to the brave men and women serving in the armed forces. Since its inception two years ago, the program has delivered approximately 20,000 pounds of goods to soldiers overseas.
The best way to summarize the success of Symetras third A Little Bit of Home initiative is to share a few stories from employees whose family and friends are serving in the Middle East. Through our partnership with AAA of Washington and the Boy Scouts, Symetra Employees helped ship more than 10,000 pounds of goodies to American soldiers and brought a little bit of home to their lives.

"We received a phone call from A.J. last night. It had been almost two weeks since we had heard from him. So it was great to hear his voice. He sounded really good! I think that he's finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel (for this tour, anyway).
He was SOOOO excited!!! I guess that he had received 10 HUGE boxes from "A Little Bit Of Home." He said that all of the guys were excited! And now, there are probably 100 guys walking around with Starbucks Coffee cups! I can't tell you how much A.J. and his entire unit appreciated the little bit of home that they received."

"My cousin, Roxanne, just called. She chatted with her son Matt this afternoon on the computer. Today he received two of the three boxes Symetra sent and everyone was so excited. The snack box has not arrived yet. It will probably be delivered tomorrow. He said he can't wait for that box. He said the food was pretty bad in the mess hall.
Roxanne said he and his unit are so very thankful to have some of the little things they don't have access to without someone from home sending them. He is going to send a personal "thank you," but wanted his Mom to let us know that they had arrived.
Again, thanks for your part in this project and making the troops lives just a little bit better while they are away from home."

"I got an email yesterday from Iraq. The boxes have begun to arrive and they are much appreciated!"
