Symetra Bellevue Family 4th

More than 60,000 people gathered from throughout the region to celebrate Independence Day at the "Symetra Bellevue Family 4th." For the third year, Symetra sponsored the Fourth of July festivities, the largest such event for Washington’s Eastside community.

The 60-piece Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra accompanied the fireworks display, which included a booming finale three times the size of the 2006 show. And for the first time, the celebration also featured the flyover of a C-17 Globemaster III from McChord Air Force Base.

There were also numerous civic groups on-hand as part of the "Symetra Community Spotlight Pavilion," which connects event attendees to local nonprofit organizations and volunteer opportunities. Representatives from Youth Eastside Services, Pacific Science Center, Overlake Service League, YMCA, the Northwest African American Museum and PATH, showcased their programs with interactive displays, and talked with members of the community about getting involved.

In addition, Symetra partnered with the Overlake Service League and six local supermarkets to help fight hunger. A summer food drive was set up to benefit local families in crisis, helping the Overlake Service League to stock their food pantry with staples provided for emergency assistance. In just one weekend four truckloads of food were collected, helping to feed more than 200 families.

The Symetra Bellevue Family Fourth is just one of the many ways Symetra helps make this unique region an even better place to live and work. It is a chance to celebrate, and an opportunity to bring families, neighbors and communities closer together.
