Fixed Indexed Annuities (FIAs) are designed for conservative consumers who want the opportunity for a little higher return, but don’t want the downside risk.
What's a fixed indexed annuity? (FIA)
- A FIA is a fixed deferred annuity in which the insurance company credits interest above the guaranteed minimum interest rate based, at least in part, on the positive performance of a securities index.
- Generally, the contract value will not decline due to the performance of the index.
- There’s usually a cap (upper limit) on the amount of interest you can earn in a given period.
