HOW DOES SYMETRA HANDLE EMPLOYEES WHO AREN'T ACTIVELY AT WORK ON THE EFFECTIVE DATE? If the new Symetra policy includes the no loss/no gain provision, the employee will be eligible for coverage if the following criteria are met:
the employee was insured under a previous policy,
the employee is on an authorized family or medical leave,
and the employee is eligible for coverage under the new Symetra policy.
The amount of insurance will be the lesser of the amount of life insurance and AD&D principal sum that the employee had under the prior policy or the amount shown in the schedule of insurance. That amount is reduced by any in-force coverage that is paid or payable under the prior policy or any coverage that would have been paid under the prior policy had the employee enrolled during the enrollment period.
WHAT IS YOUR STANDARD WAIVER OF PREMIUM?
It requires the employee to be disabled for at least 9 months with the disability occurring prior to age 60. If approved, premiums may be waived to age 65. Nonstandard options, however, may be available with underwriting approval.
