The Symetra Community Spirit Grant is a $15,000 donation to an organization or program that supports one of Symetra’s giving priorities: access to quality education, health and wellness, or graceful aging. Symetra is looking to fund a nonprofit program that’s innovative, measurable and addresses a critical need in the community.
Whether your organization is new to Symetra or you currently partner with us and seek funding for a new program, we encourage you to apply.
How It Works
Symetra will accept Community Spirit Grant applications now until Nov. 1, 2013. A Symetra review panel will select five finalists from the applications received. Symetra will notify the finalists by Nov. 15. Brief summaries of how each of the five finalist organizations would use the grant dollars will be posted on the company’s Facebook page. Members of the public then will have two weeks to vote for their favorite nonprofit program and select the winner.
Timeline
Nov. 1, 2013: All applications due

Dec. 1, 2013: Voting opens on Facebook
Dec. 15, 2013: Voting closes on Facebook, and winner is notified
Eligibility
Any 501(c)(3) that meets Symetra’s Giving Guidelines is eligible to participate. The organization or the program for which you’re requesting funding must align with Symetra’s giving priorities:
- Access to Quality Education
- Health and Wellness
- Graceful Aging
For example, if an organization whose primary mission is to end homelessness submits an application, it would need to define a specific program that supports access to quality education, health and wellness or graceful aging. A grant to the organization’s general operating fund would not be considered.
